Description
Trichodiadema bulbosum Schwantes is a succulent plant in the family Trichodiadema. It is a perennial, fleshy dwarf shrub that grows to a height of 7–12 cm. The plant is grayish‑white, with enlarged, thick, and juicy stems that branch vigorously. Its small leaves are green, spindle‑shaped, and arranged oppositely; they measure 0.8–2 cm in length. The leaf tips bear clusters of fine white hairs. The tiny flowers are pink and appear at the tips of the branches. Blooming occurs in spring and autumn. Trichodiadema bulbosum originates from South Africa and prefers warm, well‑ventilated, and sunny growing conditions. An optimal temperature range for growth is 20–28 °C, while it may go into dormancy under high summer heat. Winter temperatures should stay above 5 °C. The plant thrives in loose, well‑drained sandy loam.
