Description
The Tornado Cactus (also known as the Spiral Wheel Column Cactus) is a cactus family plant with a stem that grows in a spiral pattern. It can be propagated by cuttings, but requires strict control of temperature, light, and soil conditions to flower properly.
Tornado Cactus Flowering Care
Blooming Period and Flowers: Blooms in July–August, opens at night, with white petals edged in pink, attracting nocturnal pollinating insects.
Promoting Flowering Conditions: The stem must mature (potted plants need 2–3 years), apply balanced fertilizer during the growing period, and switch to monopotassium phosphate (0.2% concentration) before the flowering period.
Temperature Control: Optimal growing temperature is 20–30 °C; keep above 5 °C in winter to prevent frost damage.
