Description
Yoguo Baoshan (scientific name: *Sulcorebutia*) is a perennial cactus belonging to the subgenus Yoguo Baoshan within its genus. It is distinguished from closely related groups by its comb‑like arrangement of spines. The globular stems are relatively small and tend to grow in clusters. The surface features small raised bumps where the spines arise. The spines are short and dense or irregularly shaped, and the stems can be bright green, dark green, purple, red, and other colors. The plant bears relatively large basal flowers that bloom in spring. Flower colors include pink, red, yellow, orange, and mixed hues. The flowers open during the day, and the plant has well‑developed fleshy roots that are prone to rot. This species is native to the Andes Mountains at elevations of 2,400–3,600 m. It requires a sandy‑gravel substrate to promote drainage. During winter, temperatures should be maintained between 0–10 °C and the potting mix kept dry, as the plant has poor tolerance to high heat and humidity.
