Description
Thick‑thorned Othonna (scientific name: Othonna herrei Pillans) is a succulent plant of the Asteraceae family, belonging to the Othonna genus, and is endemic to South Africa. The species was described and named by Neville Stuart Pillans in 1934, and is one of the classic cultivars of the Othonna genus, also known as “Mongui Tower.” Thick‑thorned Othonna originates from the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa and its distribution is strictly limited to that region, making it an endemic species of South Africa.
