Description
Red Color Pavilion (scientific name: Euphorbia enopla Boiss. var. enopla) is a shrubby succulent plant of the spurge family Euphorbiaceae, native to South Africa. The plant can reach a height of up to 1 meter and a width of 30–40 centimeters. Its gray‑green cylindrical stems have six ribs, each densely covered with reddish‑brown conical spines that are 2–3 centimeters long. The stems and leaves are usually dark red; when light is insufficient or growth is particularly vigorous, they turn green. After leaf drop in winter, new leaves emerge in May of the following year. In autumn and winter, it produces small yellow flowers forming cup‑shaped umbels, with the flower buds being dark red. Red Color Pavilion is found in southern Africa and prefers full‑sunlight environments and warm, well‑ventilated climates, growing best at 18–30 °C and requiring temperatures above 5 °C in winter. Watering follows the “dry‑then‑soak” principle (avoiding uneven or excessive watering that can cause rot); if the potting soil has poor water retention, a soaking method is recommended. During the growing season, fertilization is necessary. When cultivated as an ornamental plant, shade should be provided in summer. It is also known as Fire Qilin.
