Description
Euphorbia cylindrifolia (scientific name: Euphorbia cylindrifolia Marn.-Lap. & Rauh) is a succulent plant in the Euphorbiaceae family and Euphorbia genus. The plant has a cushion-like, spherical or nearly spherical tuberous root system. Branches arise from the top of the tuber. The stem is greyish-white and has a ring of short stiff hairs around the leaves. Succulent leaves grow from the middle of the branches; the leaf blades are long and narrow, with edges curling inward to form a tube-like shape. The inflorescence droops, consisting of copper-brown bracts and nectar glands, stamens, and pistils. Flowers bloom in summer and autumn. It is native to southern Madagascar in Africa. In its native habitat, it mainly grows among grasses, preferring warm, dry, semi-shaded conditions. It tolerates drought, dislikes shade, waterlogging, and can endure mild cold.
