Scientific name: *Astrophytum asterias* is a succulent plant in the cactus family Astrophytum. It has a flattened globular shape, a diameter of 5‑15 cm and a height of 2‑5 cm, with no spines on the surface. It has eight ribs and woolly areoles. The flowers are usually yellow, and the throat may be red. It is native to the southern United States and northern Mexico, preferring warm, dry, sunny conditions, is cold tolerant, and grows well in well‑drained, lime‑rich sandy loam. In cultivation, the potting soil must be kept well‑drained; during the growing period, ensure adequate light and moisture, and keep it dry and cool in winter. Propagation is primarily by seed and grafting. Common pests and diseases include gray mold and spider mites, which can be controlled with specific chemicals.
